Well, the 20th September came and went and almost 1,000 people took part in the event. It wasn't gruelling but it was hard work. The training helped us every mile of the route, all 28 of them. One particular climb was severe but we all got to the top and finished the course happy but tired.
Quite and achievement. We would like to thank all of those who donated to our cause. We raised £724.25 for Pancreatic Cancer. Final total £724.25 Bring it on next year! When we started this challenge, we really didn't think that we would surpass 1,500 miles, let alone 2,500. We are doing gentle riding this week, maybe a couple of 25 milers so will easily top the 2,500 miles which we are really pleased with.
Then on Sunday, it's the Derby Sportive. We head off up to Carsington to cycle 28 miles of hills and cycling with over 2,000 other cyclists so plenty of people to bump into! We would really appreciate donations of any amount to support us in our fight for Pancreatic Cancer and thank you for your support. Well, it's getting close to the Sportive now and we have been training well after a little bit of a drought over the summer. The weather hasn't been great and there have been holidays to go on so mileage has suffered a little. So, this week was a real big one for us with Jane hitting yet another personal best of 35 miles, awesome Jane, it must have been those new shorts and saddle that did it I think!
Quite an international week. Sally did 100 miles in wales and Bob did 13 miles round Central Park in New York!
It took a while but we made it and it feels good. We are now running into credit and will try and get to 2,000 miles if we can.
Sally is off on holiday so no doubt will cycle and then I am off and will hope to cycle at least 200 miles. Well, what a great week this week. We managed 180 miles over few medium length rides. It makes us almost there with only 31 miles to go to reach our target.
Some great riding this week to bring our total closer to that 1,500 miles. Sally and Bob managed to get a Personal Best this week - 61 miles. We covered four counties - we started in Staffordshire, hit Warwickshire then into Leicestershire and then into Derbyshire and back into Staffordshire! It was a great ride if not a little tiring with stops at two new tea rooms along the way! It was a real buzz to do this many miles, not bad for a couple of 54 year olds!
