Well, we clocked over the 1,000 which is a great milestone to reach. I think we all got some miles in this week.
Well, it was a busy week for all of us so no riding - boo!
Well, we all rode this week in various combinations and distances and managed to add 176 miles to the total so now over half way there!
Another quiet week. Working up to summer is always quite busy in the swim school so not much time to ride. The one ride we did do took us up to Swadlincote and Conkers, a route we have never done before but the weather was good, the pace was slow and it was a good few hours in the saddle.
Well, only a few miles this week as it's been a busy working week for both of us. We keep plodding on though and are looking forward to the summer and doing some lengthy rides.
This week has been filled with sadness as Tony lost his fight against cancer and passed away on Saturday evening at 7:05. Our thoughts go out to Sally and Eileen and the rest of the family on this sad week.
Jane had been out on her own, Dave has been out with Bob and Bob and Sally have been out too so a real team effort! Bob and Sally got out and did a 44 miler on Thursday which took them DOWN Hopwas Hill (thank goodness), across Tamworth and over to No Man's Heath. Then over towards Rosliston where a well earned coffee was waiting. Up and at it again to Burton on Trent and down the other side of the A38 through Barton. A nice ride on a nice sunny day - half leg tans all round! Dave managed another PB at 24 miles - well done Dave, great riding and just one more mile to do to get that Sportive distance under your belt. We cycled the shorter Rosliston route on quite a windy day. Well, we're plodding on without Sally. She's gone down to see her dad for a week. We wish you and Tony the very best. Sally did ride on Monday, on Cannock Chase, on the roads! Quite a stiff ride with a few long hills but we made it.
Bob took Dave out for a ride on Tuesday. We did a shade over 16 miles which is a PB for Dave, well done! It was a good start to eating into the mileage. We managed to tot up 224 miles between us this week.
A few noteable events:
We are off to Cannock Chase on Monday, on the roads! So, if you see us, honk your horns! Since we registered for the Derby Sportive we have already cycled around 300 miles between us but we are going to start counting from today so that we have an accurate record of what we have done.
It all sounds quite simple but we have been here before with training and sometimes it just isn't that easy to get out, especially with work and the lovely English weather but hey, we're going to give it a go. So, keep an eye on the blog and I will try and update it each Sunday with weekly mileage and the mileage to date. Thanks for reading and if you feel you can donate we would be eternally grateful. You can donate in a couple of ways
A big thank you for your support! Sally and Bob |
